So all this time you thought that eating chocolate only made your bum look bigger, but research suggests that eating chocolate makes you SMART. Yes smart, you read that right. Consuming chocolate has even been linked to being able to obtain a Noble Prize based on this research. Switzerland is the country that consumes the most chocolate, and at the same time it’s people have won the highest numbers of Noble Prices. Not bad… not bad at all. This brain boosting power comes from the Flavonoids in chocolate.
So before you go crazy on the chocolate munching take into consideration this:
- Buy Organic Raw chocolate whenever you can. It has the highest number of flavonoids and minerals.
- Consume 70% dark chocolate
- Remember chocolate is a stimulant so don’t go eating too much before bedtime, it will disturb your sleep.
- You can always add raw cacao powder to your smoothies and get the same benefits.
- Incorporate raw cacao nibs into your salads, snacks and recipes.
So go ahead and enjoy some chocolate, who knows you might be the next Nobel Prize winner.
I know, it sounds to good to be true, and believe me they actually are too good to be true. This truffles are not only raw, but also do not contain any refined sugar. Before I continue I need to worn you they are highly addictive. I usually whip-up a batch and it lasts less than 3 days. My girls absolutely love them and I love giving this as a snack. They are filled with flavor, good fats, antioxidants, protein and much more.
If you ask me for a recipe, I don’t really have one. I have a base, and after that I add which ever flavor I am craving at the moment. You can add any nuts, or seeds, superfoods like spirulina, maca or lucuma.
As a base you will need
1 1/2 cup raw medjool dates
1 cup raw almonds
1 cup raw hazelnuts
1/2 cup raw cacao powder
Mix all ingredients in the food processor. Don’t forget to scrape the sides once in a while. First everything will crumble, and after 2-3min you will start to get a mixture, that when pressed together it keeps its shape. Once you have reached this point, start making little balls (this time I made ovals, much easier to fit in little mouths). And then put them in your freezer, don’t worry they will have the perfect consistency the good oils will prevent it from freezing and becoming little rocks.
